I am an American-Swedish (dual nationality) media development consultant and freelance journalist/editor based in Marseille, France.
As a media development consultant, I have worked since 2008 in close to 20 countries. I conduct workshops for print, radio and online journalism and consult on a variety of media-related topics, including social media for journalists and NGOs, citizen and mobile journalism and media and information literacy.
While wearing my reporter hat, which I have since 1997, I’ve reported on just about everything under the sun (or the clouds, since I lived in northern Europe for many years) in countries across Europe and in Asia. Topics I’ve covered range from politics and human rights to business and economics to social trends, arts and entertainment.
I am a graduate of the journalism program at the University of California, Berkeley and have worked in print, radio and online media. I have been managing editor of a weekly economics magazine in Cambodia. My radio work has aired on NPR and Marketplace in the US, Germany’s Deutsche Welle (DW), and other stations. I have 10 years of experience in online media, working as a reporter and editor for DW’s English-language online service.
My professional path is laid out in more detail in my CV below.
